Extreme Block For Extreme Loads
Allen developed the Extreme High Load (XHL) range in conjunction with the world's top International Moth Sailors, to create a solution for the extreme loads found in Moth vang's which frequently crushed the bearing surfaces of lesser blocks. The XHL range set the benchmark for high load blocks.
With CNC machined aluminum cheeks and precision turned stainless steel v-shaped sheave the XLH 40mm has a huge 1,500kg break force, leading to its adoption by leading sailors across a huge variety of classes. The design of the block ensures ultra low friction under extreme load, helping many sailors get the extra vang purchase required for heavy conditions, for some, the free running nature has allowed the removal of a purchase from the vang system for faster application.
Whilst the block can take upto 8mm diameter rope it is typically used with 4mm - 5mm Dyneema® or wire rope.
When using these blocks the rope must be cross spliced to ensure the load is not forcing the cheeks apart.
